LA GRANDE, Ore. – Only two teams remain in the 2018-19 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Women’s Basketball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, as No. 1 seeded Eastern Oregon will host No. 2 seed Corban on Monday evening to determine who will claim the CCC Tournament title.

Tournament Central

Eastern Oregon, as the CCC regular-season champion, has already earned a berth to the NAIA National Tournament. Given the Mountaineers’ presence in the CCC Tournament Title game as well, Corban is now also guaranteed an automatic bid to the national tournament.

The Mountaineers will have the luxury of hosting the championship game, competing in their third-straight CCC Finals. Corban, on the other hand, is looking to add a banner to an already impressive turnaround season, competing in its first CCC Championship game since 2012.

There are numerous storylines to keep an eye on in the upcoming battle. For starters, the matchup will pit one of the CCC’s most experienced and decorated head coaches (Anji Weissenfluh) against the first-year mastermind of Corban’s impressive season, Bill Pilgeram. In addition, the conference’s two leading scorers will go head-to-head, as Maya Ah You Dias and Jordan Woodvine will each look to contribute to their teams’ respective title chases.

A preview for tomorrow’s title bout can be seen below.

#2 Corban at #1 Eastern Oregon – La Grande, Ore.

Corban (24-8) managed to defeat red-hot Oregon Tech in Friday’s semifinals, claiming a 76-64 victory over OIT to halt the Lady Owls’ 13-game winning streak. After a school-record 41 points in the quarterfinals, Woodvine added 21 more points—alongside 10 rebounds and six assists—in Friday’s victory. Off the bench, Kendra Murphy delivered a double-double for Warrior head coach Bill Pilgeram, registering 14 points and 10 boards. Emily Yost and Treasure Farmer also proved valuable in the triumph, notching 12 points and 10 points, respectively.

Eastern Oregon (27-3) came out on the positive side of an instant-classic duel with College of Idaho in Friday’s semifinals. Adding to the rich history of battles between the two Interstate-84 rivals, the Mountaineers ended the night with a nail-biting 96-87 win after a pair of overtime periods. Ah You Dias scored 42 points in 43 minutes, collecting 15 boards to round out an otherworldly stat line. Three other Mountaineers finished in double figures as well, as Maren Herrud (14 points), Beverly Slater (12 points, 10 rebounds), and Emma Logan (12 points, seven rebounds, four assists) played key roles in the thrilling win.

When the two teams met during the regular season, Eastern Oregon came out victorious both times. The Mountaineers claimed a 72-64 win on December 16 and a 79-64 triumph on January 18.
