Ah You Dias’ Second-Straight Player of the Year Award Highlights Women’s Basketball All-Conference Honors
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) announced the 2018-19 Women’s Basketball All-Conference team on Tuesday morning, honoring the conference’s top performers during the winter season.
Highlighting the list of honorees are Eastern Oregon’s Maya Ah You Dias, who garners Player of the Year honors for the second-straight season, and College of Idaho’s Alyssa Case—the CCC Defensive Player of the Year. Northwest’s Sam Van Loo, who made a name for herself as one of the conference’s top posts in the first year of her collegiate career, takes home 2018-19 Freshman of the Year accolades.
Ah You Dias, competing in the final season of what has been an illustrious career in La Grande, compiled impressive numbers during the winter campaign. The senior guard from Middleton, Idaho averaged 23.5 points per game to lead all members of the CCC, while also ranking second in the conference with 9.6 rebounds per game and seventh with 3.3 assists per game.
Senior Alyssa Case has long been regarded as a top defender in the conference and will leave her mark on the College of Idaho record book, ranking fourth all time in steals for the Yotes. She led the conference in steals in 2018-19, tallying 70 takeaways and averaging 2.3 a contest.
Northwest’s Sam Van Loo partnered with All-Conference teammate Miranda Langenhorst to form one of the CCC’s most dangerous tandems under the basket in 2018-19. The rookie finished her first collegiate season ranking fourth in the conference in field goal percentage (.569), while also ranking 14th in rebounding with 5.9 boards per game.
It's the third-straight Coach of the Year honor for Anji Weissenfluh, who led Eastern Oregon to a near-perfect CCC regular-season (19-1) and a 25-3 record overall. The Mountaineers were ranked in the top-25 of the NAIA Coaches’ Poll throughout the 2018-19 season, reaching as high as No. 9 in the rankings. In addition to the squad’s regular-season dominance, which granted the Mountaineers the conference’s first automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament, Eastern Oregon also won the CCC Tournament for the third-consecutive year.
