Kirkland, Wash. – Northwest University (12-15, 4-11 CCC) lost on senior night to No. 4 College of Idaho (23-3, 14-2 CCC). The Eagles simply could not overcome the defensive effort made by the Yotes, who won 92-66.
A layup from the Yotes with nine minutes left in the first half started a 23-5 run for the College of Idaho, who finished the first half up 50-27. The Eagles struggled to fight back throughout the game, and their deficit only increased in the second half.
The Eagles consistently struggled to find gaps in the Yotes’ defense, only scoring twelve points in the paint to Idaho’s 42. Another big difference was the rebounding effort from the Yotes, who limited Northwest to 27 rebounds and grabbed 52 of their own.
For the Eagles, Nick Navarro was the high point scorer, with 17 points. Josh Meyer, Hussayn Ford, and Jase Paulsen had double-digit point totals as well. Senior Alex Smith had three blocks to aid in the Eagles’ defensive efforts.
Northwest head coach Jeff Drinkwine commented, “Our fatigue showed tonight and College of Idaho played a much more physical game. It would have been nice to get a win for the senior’s on their last home game but now we look forward to Evergreen on Tuesday.”
