PORTLAND, Ore. – Winning for the 12th time in the last 13th games, the Corban University women's basketball team edged past Warner Pacific University on Saturday night, 75-72. For the Warriors, it gives them the regular-season sweep of the Knights.
"The team really battled and stayed together through some tough adversity tonight," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "This group just keeps finding a way to win. They did a very good job of moving the ball and finding the next pass to our shooters against an aggressive zone."
The Navy and Gold trailed by one after the first quarter, but then exploded for 28 points in the second stanza to take a 44-32 lead into the halftime break. The Knights had the lead cut to 10 points by the time the fourth quarter rolled around, and then made a furious run at the Warriors, but Corban held on late and secured the three-point triumph.
Jordan Woodvine poured in 22 points in the triumph, hauling in six boards while dishing out five assists and registering two key blocks. In addition, Treasure Farmer totaled 17 points, draining five long-range efforts while grabbing four rebounds and recording five assists.
"Treasure continues to lead us in so many ways every night," said Pilgeram. "And Jordan takes up so much attention and is learning to help us score in a variety of ways."
Corban (18-7, 12-3 CCC) returns home for its final five games of the CCC regular season, hosting No. 24-ranked Southern Oregon University on Friday and Oregon Tech on Saturday in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
