The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period March 4-10.

Softball – Player

Kiahna Brown of Oregon Tech has been selected as the Red Lion softball Player of the Week.

Oregon Tech sweeps this week’s CCC softball accolades, with Brown earning the Player of the Week nod after her scorching series at the plate during the Lady Owls’ undefeated weekend. The defending CCC home run champion drove in 11 runs, scored 10 times, hit three home runs, blasted a pair of triples, and tallied an unbelievable slugging percentage of 1.615. She was also walked five times and swiped three bags in as many attempts.

Honorable mention: Tiana Brown, SOU

Softball – Pitcher

Sarah Abramson of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion softball Pitcher of the Week.

Abramson, a sophomore from Milwaukie, Ore., absolutely dominated in the circle for the No. 10-ranked Lady Owls. In eight total innings of work, she struck out 18 Providence hitters, retiring 75 percent of her 24 total outs via the strikeout. Abramson collected two wins over the weekend, not allowing a single Argo baserunner past second base.

Honorable mentions: Colette Robert, CI; Rachel White, CRB; Shelby Kempel, UBC

Baseball – Player

Lewis-Clark State’s Thomas Lampkin Jr. has been selected as the Red Lion baseball Player of the Week.

Lampkin Jr. had a torrid weekend at the plate for LC State, capped off by a stellar performance in the team’s series finale against College of Idaho. A threat at the dish and on the bases, the senior from Vancouver, Wash. went 4-for-4 and stole three bases (tying the program single-game record) in the Warriors’ 6-4 triumph on Sunday. Overall, the speedy outfielder went 7-for-15 (.467) on the weekend, with four stolen bases and a pair of RBIs.

Baseball – Pitcher

College of Idaho’s Hunter Boyd has been chosen as the Red Lion baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Boyd delivered a gem on the hill in the Yotes’ series opener against Lewis-Clark State over the weekend, tossing a complete-game, six-hit performance to lead College of Idaho to a 4-1 win. The senior from Moses Lake, Wash. was outstanding, allowing just one run over the nine frames—the first time in eight years that the Yotes were able to hold the Warriors to one run or less.

Honorable mention: Jonathan Russomano, CI

Men’s Outdoor Field

Hunter Drops of Oregon Tech has been selected as the Red Lion men’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.

Drops claims the first CCC men’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week award of the season after claiming an individual victory in the javelin throw at the Chico Wildcat Invitational on Saturday. Competing in a field of 20 athletes, the sophomore from Coos Bay, Ore. uncorked a toss of 186’10” to win the event, narrowly missing an NAIA ‘A’ standard.

Honorable mention: Adam O’Brien, SOU

Women’s Outdoor Field

Northwest’s Anna Miller has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.

It was a tremendous season debut for the Eagles’ Anna Miller, who punched her ticket to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field national meet after uncorking an NAIA ‘A’ standard javelin throw at the Pacific Lutheran Open. A senior from Yakima, Wash., Miller hurled a 136’1” toss to place second individually in the event.

Women’s Outdoor Track

Cass Brownell of Northwest Christian has been named the Red Lion women’s outdoor track Athlete of the Week.

Brownell, a senior hailing from Cove, Ore., opened the 2019 outdoor season by winning the 1500 meters at the Pacific Preview, topping a field of mostly NCAA Division III opponents. Her time of 4:46.73 is the best in the conference, and stands as the only CCC qualifying time thus far. In addition, Brownell’s time currently ranks third in the NAIA.

Men’s Outdoor Track

Southern Oregon’s Bryce Goggin has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s outdoor track Athlete of the Week.

The rookie from Eugene, Ore. bested a field of 17 competitors with his time of 15.18 seconds, a testament to his bright future as a member of the Southern Oregon track & field program.
