Jarett Thoren Named Director of Athletic Communications at Corban University
SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Athletics announced on Friday that Jarett Thoren has been named the new Director of Athletic Communications for the institution's athletic department.
"As the Athletic Director of Corban University, I am privileged to be able to welcome the newest member of the Corban Warrior family, Jarett Thoren," said Warrior Director of Athletics Twiggs Reed. "Having observed Jarett's leadership and expertise this past year, and seeing firsthand the expertise that he has brought to our website, broadcasting, and social media, I am thrilled to have him now taking on the role as our Director of Athletic Communications. Jarett was trained by one of the best in Danny Day, and I am confident that he will continue to build and bring excellence to the already outstanding athletic communications department. I am very grateful to have such a Christ-centered leader in our Sports Information and Athletic Communications department. Welcome, Jarett!"
Thoren, a Corban University alum, joined the Warrior Athletic Communications office in August of 2017 as a student, making an immediate impact, and then in 2018 he stepped into a role as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. While spearheading Corban's dynamic social media presence, graphics, website content, broadcasting, statistics, and 'Gameday' experience, Thoren also took over leading the Corban Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
On top of his role at Corban during the past year, Thoren also served as the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Media & Communications Coordinator. While expanding the reach of what the CCC has been able to provide, both on the website, through media outlets, and through social media, Thoren's new ideas raised awareness of the conference all across the NAIA.
Prior to beginning at Corban as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant, Thoren enjoyed a successful playing career as a member of the Corban University baseball team. His name can be found in the program record books in multiple categories, and in 2018 he became the first-ever member of the squad to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American for his exceptional performance both on the field and in the classroom.
In addition, Thoren was chosen in 2018 to be the sole NAIA SAAC Committee representative at the CoSIDA Convention in Washington D.C., becoming the only Corban student to ever be awarded the honor.
"I am thrilled for the opportunity to step into this new role," said Thoren. "I have had the privilege of learning from an incredibly gifted leader and communicator in Danny Day, and I am excited to continue building upon the reputation of excellence that Corban Athletics has worked so hard to attain. I hope to use this position as a means to honor Christ and positively impact the lives of student-athletes."
Thoren officially begins his duties as Corban's Director of Athletic Communications on April 1.
"There is no doubt in my mind that Jarett Thoren is the right man for this job," said Day. "To see how quickly he has learned so much about the athletic communications world, and to see the high level of work he produces on a daily basis has shown me that I am handing the baton off to someone who will continue to raise the bar. Corban has exciting times ahead with Jarett at the helm, as he is an absolute all-star, and I can't wait to see the incredible work he is going to do for the Warriors!"
