SALEM, Ore. – The No. 14-ranked Corban University softball team handed (RV) College of Idaho two Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) losses on Saturday and made it 14-straight wins for the Warriors, downing the Yotes, 5-1 and 7-3 at Warrior Field.
"Today was a fun day," said Corban head coach Abigail Farler. "The team executed so many different plays well. It was great to watch everyone play their role to help earn two wins! Sarah and Rachel threw well for us, and I thought we did a good job of keeping pressure on throughout the games with some really solid contact! I thought we left a ton of runners on in scoring position, and we will improve on that tomorrow."
Game one saw two of the CCC's best pitchers dealing, as C of I's Colette Robert and Corban's Sarah Probasco went toe to toe in the CCC showdown.
In the third frame, three errors by the Yotes proved to be costly, as the Warriors piled on three unearned runs in the inning to take the advantage.
The Warriors would score two more in the fifth, crossing the plate on a wild pitch and then scoring via another error to make it 5-0. While C of I would pull one back in the sixth, the Warriors were outstanding defensively, finishing off the four-run triumph.
Probasco earned her eighth win of the year, throwing 5.1 innings while allowing just four hits and one run. Alyssa Vidal came on in relief, recording five key outs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the victory.
Tatum Prechtel remained hot at the dish, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Sam Woodley went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
The Yotes actually recorded more hits than Corban in the game with seven total, but were only able to score the one run.
Game two saw Corban tack on two in the first thanks to RBI singles from Jessie Isham and Mahina Chong.
While the Yotes would pull one back in the third, Corban immediately responded with one of its own and then added two in the fourth on an RBI double from Isham and an RBI single from Woodley.
The Warriors would add two insurance runs in the sixth, and despite the Yotes rallying for one run in the seventh, Corban finished off the contest to secure the victory.
The Navy and Gold racked up 15 hits in the game-two triumph, with both Chong and Isham totaling three, while Prechtel, Buhrkuhl, and Woodley all tallied two apiece.
C of I (17-5, 5-3 CCC) saw Haley Loffer and Delaney Atkins notch two hits each in the loss, while Alyssa Goff went 3-for-3 in the defeat.
In the circle, Rachel White earned the win for Corban, tossing six innings of seven-hit ball, allowing two runs while striking out three.
Corban (16-4, 8-0 CCC) returns to the field tomorrow when it hosts C of I once again at Warrior Field. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m. for the doubleheader, with only live stats set to be available.
