EUGENE, Ore. – Northwest Christian University senior Austin Tyner has been selected to participate in the NAIA Men’s Basketball All-Star Game, presented by Adidas, announced by the NAIA on Thursday.
The game will be played at Municipal Arena in Kansas City, Mo. On Tuesday, March 26 at 6:00 pm. 30 of the top players from both NAIA Division I and Division II schools have been selected to play and are split between an East and West team.
It will be the first time the game is played since 2015.
Tyner, a first-team All-Cascade Conference selection, was the only player selected to represent the CCC and will play on the West All-Star team that includes just three other players from the West Coast, all of which come from the Division I Golden State Athletic Conference.
Tyner, the only four-year senior on the NCU roster, had a breakout year in his final season in an NCU jersey. He led the team in scoring, averaging 20 points per game which ranked second in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Tyner was also the top steals man in the conference, averaging 2.7 per game which placed him third in the NAIA. He was also fifth in the CCC in free-throw percentage and three-point field goal percentage.
Tyner also earned his first CCC Player of the Week award back in January after a dominating weekend in which he averaged 22.5 points per game as NCU swept their road series with Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech for the first time in school history.
