"That had to be the game of the tournament so far! What a great win for our players and our program," said Corban head coach Bill Pilgeram. "We weren't perfect, but every player gave perfect effort which is what it takes at this level! Incredible shot by Jordan Woodvine after Tabor hit a tough shot to tie the game."
Corban (25-9) will take on Taylor University, which boasts a 29-4 overall record, in the NAIA Final 16 on Friday at 3:15 p.m. PST. LIVE STATS l LIVE VIDEO l BRACKET
The loss for Tabor (28-4) marks the first defeat for the Blue Jays since December 1, snapping a 21-game winning streak. For Corban, the victory marks its sixth win in its last seven games overall.
In NAIA national tournament play, it mark's Corban's second-ever win, and first since 2012.
Corban started off hot in the first quarter, taking a 19-15 lead thanks to a trio of long-range efforts. The Warriors then led by three at the halftime break after a very evenly-played second stanza.
In the third quarter, Tabor showed why it has the No. 1-ranked scoring defense in the NAIA, holding Corban to just 11 points, but the Warriors did the same on their defensive end, limiting Tabor's chances as the Blue Jays also scored just 11 points.
In the fourth quarter, Lindsay Asplund drained a shot from downtown with just over a minute left to put the Navy and Gold up by six points. Tabor responded, however, recording a pair of steals in the final minute while hitting two shots from deep, tying the game with three seconds remaining.
Coach Pilgeram then drew up the perfect play for the Warriors, as after advancing the ball following a timeout, Corban inbounded the ball to Woodvine, and after almost losing the handle on the ball, she got around the Tabor defender and hit the one-handed running jumper with less than one second remaining on the clock.
The Blue Jays had one final shot at the buzzer, but the shot missed its mark, and Corban celebrated the upset victory.
Woodvine finished with a team-best 22 points and seven boards, shooting 10-for-12 from the field in the triumph. Emily Yost went 5-for-8 from the floor with 12 points, while both Asplund and Treasure Farmer chipped in 10 points for the Warriors in the thrilling win.
As a team, Corban shot an incredible 60% from the field and 45.5% from downtown while holding Tabor to just a 38.6% shooting mark overall and 27.3% clip from beyond the arc.
Corban and Taylor will face off in the NAIA Final 16 on Friday at 3:15 p.m. PST, and there will be a Watch Party hosted once again on Corban's campus in the Younger Center's Riady Board Room.
