Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period March 25-31.
Softball – Player
Ali Graham of Oregon Tech has been selected as the Red Lion softball Player of the Week.
Graham had a monstrous weekend for the No. 13-ranked Lady Owls, helping Oregon Tech to a four-game sweep of Northwest Christian. Not only did the senior from Chehalis, Wash. go 9-for-15 (.600) with a game-four homer at the plate, but she also threw a no-hitter in the circle during the Owls’ 2-0 win in the series opener.

Softball – Pitcher
Sarah Abramson of Oregon Tech has been named the Red Lion softball Pitcher of the Week.
Oregon Tech sweeps this week’s softball Player of the Week honors, with Abramson excelling in the circle with a pair of impressive performances during the Lady Owls’ undefeated weekend. Abramson got wins in each of her two starts, allowing just a pair of runs in 12 total innings of work, and striking out a ridiculous 24 batters during that time.

Baseball – Player
College of Idaho’s Matthew Clay has been selected as the Red Lion baseball Player of the Week.
Clay, a native of Port Moody, B.C., was relentless at the dish for the Yotes over the weekend, tallying multiple hits in every one of the team’s four games against Oregon Tech. In the Owls’ series win over College of Idaho, the junior outfielder went 9-for-18 with two doubles and a long ball in game four, helping the squad to an NAIA-West series win.

Baseball – Pitcher
Richard Walker of College of Idaho has been chosen as the Red Lion baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Walker continues to pad his impressive 2019 résumé, spinning a complete-game gem in his start against Oregon Tech over the weekend. The junior from Cave Creek, Ariz. allowed just two hits in the nine innings of work, surrendering two runs and striking out nine Owls to earn the win. At one point, Walker retired 23-of-25 batters he faced in the dominating performance.

Men’s Outdoor Field
Roan Allen of British Columbia has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.
Competing at the UBC Open over the weekend, Allen obliterated his personal-best mark in his winning performance in the javelin throw. The junior from Ottawa, Ont. uncorked a throw of 68.64 meters to take first place and post the best mark (by more than eight meters) in the NAIA so far this season. Allen's performance also bettered the NAIA 'A' standard, and has earned him a place at this year's outdoor nationals.

Women’s Outdoor Field
Paige Dodd of Eastern Oregon has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.
Dodd took first place in the heptathlon at the extremely competitive Boxer Combined Events on Monday and Tuesday. The junior from Burbank, Wash. registered a score of 4503 points, ranking first in the NAIA this year. The field Dodd topped included three other athletes in the top-seven of the NAIA, and her total score now ranks fourth all-time in Mountaineer history.

Women’s Outdoor Track
Oregon Tech’s Cindy Reed has been named the Red Lion women’s outdoor track Athlete of the Week.
Competing at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Thursday, Reed re-set her own school record in the 10K with a mark of 36:12.35 in the event, placing 23rd in a highly-competitive field of 62 athletes. She is now the national leader in the 10K, with her mark standing as the No. 1 time in the NAIA so far this spring.

Men’s Outdoor Track
British Columbia’s Kieran Lumb has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s outdoor track Athlete of the Week.
Lumb, a junior out of Vancouver, B.C., blew away the field in the men's 1500 meters at the UBC Open meet. He finished the race in 3:45.86, just over 11 seconds better than the next-closest competitor. It puts him as the No. 1-ranked 1500-meter runner in the NAIA, nearly six seconds ahead of the second-rated athlete. His time also surpassed the NAIA 'A' standard in the event.

Women’s Golf
British Columbia’s Kate Johnston has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s Golfer of the Week.
Unsurprisingly, British Columbia’s Kate Johnson earns CCC women’s Golfer of the Week honors after earning medalist honors at the Desert Intercollegiate. Johnston opened the tournament with a 3-over par 75 and was in second place entering the final round. She then vaulted into first by signing for a 2-over 74, the best round of the day, which included birdies on the first and 13th holes. Her performance helped No. 5 UBC win the team competition, and serves as her first individual tournament medal.

Men’s Golf
Oregon Tech’s Mayson Tibbs has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s Golfer of the Week.
Tibbs, a sophomore hailing from Prineville, Ore., tied a school record with a tournament-low round of 65 in round two of the Desert Intercollegiate. His two-round total of 7-under-par 137 (72, 65) earned him medalist honors at the tournament, leading the No. 17-ranked Owls to a second-place finish, just two strokes behind No. 5 Texas Wesleyan.
