Bellevue, Wash. – Northwest University (10-26) lost both games on Saturday to finish the weekend without a win against No. 4 Southern Oregon University (36-5). The Eagles scored only one run in both games, getting shut out in the first game 9-0, and losing the second game 8-1.

Game one – Southern Oregon 9, Northwest University 0

The Raiders started the game with three quick runs in the first inning. Three singles and two defensive errors helped the rapid lead come about. The third inning also proved to be a massive scoring run for the Raiders, who scored the rest of their nine runs in the inning. Two errors from the Eagles and five hits from the Raiders, including one two-run homer from the Raiders’ Hannah Wessel, proved too much for the Eagles’ defense to overcome.

The Eagles managed to get two hits in the game, but were shut out in a game that ended early due to mercy rule. Carly Tighe and Rachel Hawley pitched for Northwest.

Game two – Southern Oregon 8, Northwest University 1

No scoring action came in the second game until the third inning, when a double from the Raiders brought two runners home for the score. The Raiders tacked two more runs on in the fifth inning before the Eagles’ offense found some success in the bottom of the fifth. Northwest’s lone score came off of a ground-out from Sam Parisio, which brought Jordan Dippel in for the run.

The momentum couldn’t swing in the Eagles’ favor after the score, however, as Southern Oregon scored four more times in the game to claim an 8-1 victory over the Eagles. Mattea Nelson pitched the whole game for the Eagles.
