No. 5-Ranked UBC Leads After Day 1 of Women's Golf Championships Presented by U.S. Bank

BEND, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Golf Championship presented by U.S. Bank begun Monday here at the Pronghorn Resort’s Nicklaus Golf Course Monday with No. 5-ranked University of British Columbia (UBC) holding the first-day lead.
UBC shot a four-player 18-hole score of 310 on the par-72, 5,801-yard course, with No. 12-ranked Oregon Tech second at 321 and Corban University third at 336. Northwest Christian (370), College of Idaho (406), and tournament host Walla Walla University (414) rounded out the remaining scores on the women's side.
Avril Li (+1) of UBC carded the best score on the day with a 73 while Casey Jansen (+5) of Corban University and Aerin Song (+5) of Oregon Tech sit four shots back in a two-way tie for second scoring a first round of 77. Reigning NAIA National Player of the Week and Red Lion Conference Player of the Week Kate Johnston (+6) of UBC, Stephanie Koza (+6) of Oregon Tech, and Esther Lee (+6) of UBC all sit five shots back in a three-way tie for fourth place scoring first round scores of 78 to round out the top five.
The women's groups will begin the final round of the championships tomorrow morning with 9:00 a.m. serving as the first tee time.
