BEND, Ore. – The No. 5-ranked University of British Columbia (UBC) had three golfers in the top-five, including medalist Avril Li (+8), capturing the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Women’s Golf Championship presented by U.S. Bank Tuesday afternoon on the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course at Pronghorn Resort. In addition to the tournament win, the Thunderbirds (18.5-.5) claimed the regular season title, ending the season with a 305.2 two-round average.
 
UBC shot a four-player 36-hole score of 310-309=619 on the par-72, 5,801-yard course to win the tournament, earning the automatic berth into the NAIA National Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla. The No. 14-ranked Oregon Tech Owls (+43) finished as runner-up, carding scores of 321-321=642. Corban University rounded out the top three, carding rounds of 336-349=685.
 
Northwest Christian University (370-362-732), who received the CCC Team Sportsmanship award, came in fourth while College of Idaho (406-403=809) finished 10-strokes ahead of tournament host Walla Walla University (414-405=819) to round out the remaining teams.
 
Avril Li (+8) shot a 73-79=152 on the par-72 course, one stroke ahead of runner-up and teammate Esther Lee (+9), who shot a 78-75=153. UBC’s Kate Johnston (+11) finished third at 78-77=155 while Oregon Tech’s Stephanie Koza (+12) and Payton Canon (+14) rounded out the top five, carding scores of 78-78=156 and 81-77=158, respectively. Li’s 73 in round one served as the lowest carded round in the tournament.

Esther Lee, averaging the best stroke average (75.0) in the conference earned 2018-19 CCC Player of the Year honors. Joining her on the All-Conference Team were teammates Kate Johnston, Shania Ramandaban and Cecile Kwon, Oregon Techs Payton Canon, Stephanie Koza, and Aerin Song. Chris Macdonald of UBC was named by his peers as CCC’s Women’s Coach of the Year.
