KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Lewis-Clark State (32-12-1, 22-7 NAIA-W) hit six home runs including a grand slam on the way to a 23-3 win over Oregon Tech (12-36, 6-23 NAIA-W) as the two teams opened up a four game series at Kiger Stadium on Friday afternoon.
LC-State took the early lead with an unearned run in the first, then added two more runs in the second highlighted by a two-run double by Thomas Lampkin Jr.
Tech tied the game at 3-3 with runs on RBI hits by Austin Zavala and Kia Fong.
A Jeff Bart two-run homer gave the Warriors a 5-3 lead in the 4
th.
LCS then scored 14 runs in the 5
th on 10-hits helped by four Oregon Tech errors to go up 19-3.
The Warriors then capped off the night with a grand slam home run by Jacob Gribbin in the 6
th as the game ended 23-3 after seven innings (mercy rule).
The Warriors out-hit the Owls 18-7 led by Darren Trainor and Bart with three-hits each
The weekend series will continue on Saturday with a doubleheader at noon and then conclude on Senior Day with a single 9-inning game scheduled for 11:00 am. Oregon Tech will honor its 8 seniors before the start of the game on Sunday.
