The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period April 1-7.

Softball – Player

Allie Stines of Southern Oregon has been selected as the Red Lion softball Player of the Week.

Stines was nearly perfect at the dish in the No. 3-ranked Owls’ weekend sweep of British Columbia, going 9-for-11 and scoring nine runs. She set the Raider record for doubles in a game (four) and in a season (19), totaling seven in the series. The junior catcher also drove in five runs in the series, walking five times in the four games to reach base in 14 of her 16 plate appearances.

Gabby Sandoval of Southern Oregon has been named the Red Lion softball Pitcher of the Week.

Sandoval collected all three of No. 3-ranked Southern Oregon’s conference wins this weekend, improving to a perfect 16-0 in CCC play and 22-2 overall. She was one out away from a five-inning no-hitter in the series opener, but settled for her 17th and 18th complete games of the season, striking out 15 total batters and surrendering no walks over the weekend.

Honorable mentions: Emma Jegtvig, NCU; Allison Williams, CC

Baseball – Player

Lewis-Clark State’s Darren Trainor has been selected as the Red Lion baseball Player of the Week.

Trainor, Lewis-Clark State’s senior backstop, continues to prove himself to be one of the conference’s most dangerous bats, going 8-for-15 in four games against one of the NAIA West’s most-difficult pitching staffs in UBC. He collected a hit in each of the four games, including three two-baggers and a home run. Trainor also registered six RBIs, notching at least one in every game.

Honorable mention: Micah Jio, OIT; Daniel Freiburger, CRB

Baseball – Pitcher

John Schulz of Oregon Tech has been chosen as the Red Lion baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Schulz was masterful in his game-one win against Corban on Saturday, hurling seven innings and striking out 10. The senior from Carlsbad, Calif. limited his opponents to three hits, allowing just one unearned run in the outing, propelling the Owls to a convincing win in the series opener.

Men’s Outdoor Field

Rowan Hamilton of British Columbia has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.

For the second-straight week, a Thunderbird takes home CCC men’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week plaudits, with Hamilton earning the honor this go-around. The freshman from UBC won the hammer throw event at the Western Washington Invitational, uncorking a toss of 60.98 meters. That is the best mark in the CCC so far this season, and tops among all NAIA freshmen, earning him a spot at the NAIA national outdoor meet.

Women’s Outdoor Field

Trinity Hansma of British Columbia has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.

Men’s Outdoor Track

Eastern Oregon’s Devin Lewis-Allen has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s outdoor track Athlete of the Week.

Over the weekend, Lewis-Allen won the men’s 400-meter dash with a time of 48.98 seconds at the War XII meet. He narrowly missed the NAIA qualifying time of 48.50 seconds, but he defeated two top runners from the University of Montana (NCAA Division I), recording a personal-best mark that ranks second in the Mountaineer record books and 21st in the NAIA in 2019.
