Red Lion Players of the Week Announced

The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period April 28-May 5.
Softball – Player
Hannah Shimek of Southern Oregon has been selected as the Red Lion softball Player of the Week.
Shimek was a central part of No. 4-ranked Southern Oregon’s CCC Tournament Title over the weekend, delivering multi-RBI hits in each of the Raiders’ last two games. The sophomore from Bothell, Wash. finished the tournament 5-for-10 (.500) with a triples, five RBIs, and two runs scored.

Softball – Pitcher
Gabby Sandoval of Southern Oregon has been named the Red Lion softball Pitcher of the Week.
After being named the CCC Pitcher of the Year on Thursday, Sandoval broke the conference single-season wins record on Friday, broke the conference shutouts record on Saturday (13) and hit the 30-win milestone Sunday, steering the No. 4-ranked Raiders to their third straight CCC Tournament Chmapionship.

Men’s Outdoor Field
Kevin Tunnell of Southern Oregon has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.
Tunnell, a senior hailing from Napa, Calif., delivered a strong performance at the Linfield Open on Saturday. He picked up a win in the shot put—besting a competitive field of 26 throwers—registering a 14.85-meter mark in the event.

Women’s Outdoor Field
Maggie Ledbetter of Eastern Oregon has been chosen as the Red Lion women’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week.
Ledbetter earns CCC women’s outdoor field Athlete of the Week accolades for the second-straight week, turning in an incredible performance at the Portland Twilight on Friday. The freshman broke a 30-year school record in the discus at the event, uncorking a toss of 44.74 meters. She won the highly-competitive event, and then finished second in the shot put with an impressive 12.45-meter mark.

Women’s Outdoor Track
Megan Boals of Eastern Oregon has been named the Red Lion women’s outdoor track Athlete of the Week.
Boals ran the fastest split (2:15.20) of the Mountaineer women's 4x800-meter relay that notched a school record (9:16.40) at Friday’s Portland Twilight. The group crushed both the NAIA 'A' standard mark of 9:24.00 and the previous school record of 9:28.00, running the fourth-fastest time in the NAIA. Individually, Boals also won her 800-meter heat at the Portland Twilight, registering a time of 2:16.19 in the event.

Men’s Outdoor Track
Lane Inwards of Eastern Oregon has been chosen as the Red Lion men’s outdoor track Athlete of the Week.
Inwards, a senior out of Meridian, Idaho, hit the NAIA provisional qualifying mark in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:55.81 at Friday’s Portland Twilight. His impressive mark ranks 14th in the Mountaineer record books.
