NAPLES, Italy - NCU senior Anika Rasubala got her first taste of international competition on Thursday, competing at the World University Games.
Coming into the race at the No. 17 seed, Rasubala finished 15th and was the top American finisher, crossing the finish line in 11 minutes, 20.59 seconds.
The gold medal was claimed by Poland's Alicja Konieczek, running a 9:41.46. Belen Casetta from Argentina took the silver (9:43.05) while Ethiopia's Meswat Dagnaw claimed bronze (9:45.48).
Rasubala will return to NCU in the fall for her final season, set to defend All-Conference finishes in cross country and track, along with her CCC and NAIA Championships in the 3000m Steeplechase.
