SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's soccer team took the field today at the CFC Soccer Complex with its sights set on the squad's first win of the young 2019 season. Using a stellar second half of soccer, they were able to do just that, rattling off four goals in the final 45 minutes to stun the Ottawa University (Ariz.) Spirit, 4-2.

The first 45 minutes of play featured two goals from the Spirit, and it looked as if the energy on the Corban side had been all but extinguished. But, after the break, the Warriors stormed back with an onslaught of offense. Four goals—two of which came from Hannah Shore and two of which came from Annouscka Kordom—reached the back of the net in the second half for the Navy and Gold.

"It was a total team effort today," said head coach Derek Faulkner after his first career win at the helm for the Warriors. "The encouragement and love between our players really showed. We battled through another rough start, but came together and put a really impressive second half together. I'm very proud of the response from the team!"

The Warriors comeback from a 2-0 deficit at the end of the first half marks the first win of the season for the Navy and Gold.

In the first half, Ottawa's two goals were tallied by Saipress Jones in the 10th minute and Chandler Schioppi in the 29th minute. In the first half, the game was controlled by the Spirit—as they led the shot column at the intermission six to four—but it would not be the same story in the second.

The Warriors leaned on two seasoned veterans, Shore and Kordom, for their scoring. Each of the experienced players earned a brace in the contest. Shore started the scoring for Corban by blasting a shot from the top of the box into the left corner of the twine in the 56th minute, and she followed that up with the game-tying goal just two minutes later.

For the Warriors, Kordom once again made her presence felt on the pitch. She scored the final two tallies of the game; the first of which came on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute and the second of which came on the heels of a magnificent set piece from Riley Smetzler.

The Warriors (1-2) will now look to stay in the win column, with their next clash set to take place on September 7 in McMinnville, Ore. against Linfield College.
