SALEM, Ore. – This was a game of opportunities, as it seemed that the Corban University women's soccer team had countless chances at putting the ball in the back of the net. In the end, they came out victorious with a tight 2-1 win.

With a total of 17 shots in the win, the Warriors were bound to strike for more than just their single first-half goal, scored by Hannah Hersh (her second of the season). But, through 73 minutes, the Navy and Gold found themselves in a 1-1 tie. But that all changed in the 74th minute when Chanel Garcia buried a header into the back of the net off of a brilliant set-piece off the foot of Katie Hiller.

"This was a really good team win today," said head coach Derek Faulkner. "We got contributions from lots of players in different roles. I am proud of the team as we continue to take on challenges and work together to fight through adversity."

There were 18 different Warrior players who saw the pitch in the contest, as Faulkner was not afraid to deploy the garrison against the Yotes. The substitutes responded and put forth valiant effort all game long off the bench.

The two goals for the Warriors in the contest were both assisted upon, which backs up coach Faulkner's comments on team play working well for the squad in Friday's game. Kayla Sorrick picked up an assist on the first goal of the game for the Warriors by Hersh, and Katie Hiller's magnificent ball to the front of the net led to the game-winning tally by Garcia.

Malie Kuia has started off her collegiate net-minding career with a bang, having won all four starts of her tenure between the pipes. She allowed just one goal on six shots on goal in the match against the Yotes.

Corban will face a tough test hosting No. 7 Eastern Oregon on Saturday at CFC Soccer Complex at 12:30 p.m. The Warriors look to stun the Mountaineers and pick up their second conference win.
