KIRKLAND – Northwest used a pair of second-half goals and the second consecutive clean sheet by goalkeeper Alex Thiehofe for a 2-0 win over Walla Walla Sunday.

Kyle Han got the game-winner in the 47th minute. Payton Gunhus popped the ball forward from midfield, followed by a deft touch by Jordan Travis to Han, who buried the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Joey Starr put the Eagles up 2-0 after Leon Bormann got him the ball for an assist in the 74th minute.

Thiehofe, who shut out Rocky Mountain on 11 assists Friday, got a pair of saves Sunday to pick up the win in goal.

"Walla Walla did a good job against us today," said NU Head Coach Gary McIntosh. "They were very organized and sat in on us the whole game. We had to be disciplined with our play and move the ball around to break them down. I thought in the first half we were a bit unlucky not to find a goal. At half time we made some adjustments and came right out the second half and found our first goal off a beautiful combination play that ended up having Jordan assisting Kyle. I felt like in the second half we continued to dominate and we went deep into our bench and had a lot of guys contribute today, which is great. We were able to find the second goal to put the game away and that's all we really needed today."

Northwest had 23 shots from a dozen players in the game and put 11 of those shots on goal. Noah Prophet had four shots and Travis led with two shots on goal.

Jordan St. George led WWU with two shots.

Now 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Eagles host a pair of noon starts next weekend with Corban visiting on Friday and Northwest Christian Saturday. Corban leads the CCC with a 4-0 mark.

Walla Walla dips to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in the CCC.
