Accolades Abound, as Warriors Women’s Golf Rides Momentum to Second-Place Finish
McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The (RV) Corban University women's golf team found themselves at a solid 333 shot total after the first round of play at the Wildcat Invitational in McMinnville, Ore. on Saturday. That would place them in second place at the end of the first round, poised for a run at the top spot.
Corban's Kelly Dunn ran away with the individual title at the competition as she shot a 7-over-151 in two rounds which were scored at 78 and 73 shots. Dunn's second round of 73 was just one shot above par for the course. She was a full six strokes ahead of any competition for the individual title. Hannah Roh of Whitman shot a 13-over-157 to gather the runner-up title.
RESULTS
Corban's second round total was an improvement upon their first round by four strokes, but tournament champion Whitman was a bit too far ahead for the Navy and Gold to surmount the deficit.
Megan George finished an outstanding fifth place after shooting a 20-over-164. George's round two was a slight step back from her top form, as she tallied a second round of 85 after a stellar 79 shot first round.
Delainey Patterson tied for 10th by shooting a 23-over-167, giving the Warriors three top-10 finishers individually.
The Warriors' Haley May recorded a hole-in-one on the 7th hole in the first round, using a 7-iron on the par-three hole. May's strong first round propelled her to a strong 20th place finish at the Wildcat Invite. Taylor Preston rounded out the Corban team with a tie for 23rd place.
Another strong finish for the Warriors is a good sign for the young and hungry Warriors. The George Fox Culturama is the next event that the women's golf team will be competing in. It will be held on October 5 and 6 at the Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby, Ore.
