Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period Sept. 23-29.
Volleyball - Attacker
No. 8-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Megan Bunn was named the Red Lion Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
Bunn, a six-foot senior middle from Banks, Ore., was the leading attacker for the Mountaineers in both wins over the weekend, averaging 15.5 kills. She had 17 kills in the five-set win over No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon University. She posted a double-double in both matches with 27 total digs, adding six block assists and a solo block.

Volleyball - Defender
No. 8 Eastern Oregon’s Kiley McMurtrey was named the Red Lion Volleyball Defender of the Week, her fifth honor of the year.
McMurtrey, a 5-foot-3 junior defensive specialist from Idaho Falls, Idaho, averaged 18 digs in two matches, including a 21-dig match in a five-set win over No. 5-ranked SOU. She also had two assists and one ace to help the Mountaineers go 2-0 on the week in CCC action.

Volleyball - Setter
Eighth-ranked EOU’s Madison Pilon was named the Red Lion Volleyball Setter of the Week for the third time this season.
The 5-foot-11 junior setter from Olympia, Wash., totaled 84 assists, tying her personal record with 47 in the five-set win over No. 5 Southern Oregon. Pilon also had a double-double with 16 digs. She posted 37 assists in four sets against OIT.

Women’s Soccer – Defensive
No. 23-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Trinity Rhoades was named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The 5-foot-5 junior defender from Las Vegas played a key role in SOU’s 2-0 week. Rhoades played in all 90 minutes as the Raiders limited Carroll College to two shots on goal in Friday's 2-0 shutout, then had an assist and made a crucial (team) save on a ball inches from the goal line in Sunday's 3-1 win against Providence.

Women’s Soccer - Offensive
Oregon Tech’s Salyna Blue was named the Red Lion Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Blue, a 5-foot-3 senior forward from Beaverton, Ore., had one goal, including a game-winner, and four assists in a weekend sweep of Providence and Carroll College. Blue now leads the CCC and is 10th in NAIA with seven assists.

Men’s Soccer – Defensive
Northwest University’s Alexander Thiehofe was named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The 6-foot-4 goalkeeper from Bottrop, Germany, finished the week with 13 saves, including 11 in the Eagles’ 2-0 win over No. 24-ranked Rocky Mountain College – NU’s first win over the Battlin’ Bears. He added two more saves to grab his second shutout of the weekend with NU’s 2-0 victory over Walla Walla University.
Men’s Soccer - Offensive
Northwest University’s Jordan Travis was named the Red Lion Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, his second of the season.
The 6-foot-1 senior forward from Bothell, Wash., finished the weekend with one goal and two assists to help the Eagles grab two wins. Travis scored a goal and assisted the other in NU’s first-ever win over No. 24-ranked RMC.

Men’s Golf – Golfer
No. 6-ranked UBC’s Malcolm Glumpak was named the Red Lion Men’s Golfer of the Week.
A freshman from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Glumpak was the highest-finishing Cascade Collegiate Conference golfer at the UBC Thunderbirds Invitational in Bellingham, Wash. He concluded the league event at 1-under-par 215 (68-74-73) for an eighth-place showing. Glumpak's first-round 68 on Monday was the best 18-hole score of his young collegiate career. Led by Glumpak, the Thunderbirds were second in the team standings.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
Top-ranked British Columbia’s Kate Johnston was named the Red Lion Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Johnston, a senior from Ayr, Ontario, Canada, won her second career tournament, taking individual medalist honors at her own school's Gail Moore Intercollegiate event. Johnston shot rounds of 68 and 72 to finish at 4-under-par, six strokes better than her closest competitor. She was the only player in the 38-golfer field to end the tournament in Bellingham, Wash., below par. Johnston's performance also propelled UBC, ranked first in the NAIA, to the team title, as the Thunderbirds won by 19 strokes over Oregon Tech.
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
Fifth-ranked College of Idaho’s Alex Martin was named the Red Lion Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, his second honor of the year.
A senior from Bend, Ore., Martin had a dominant race against the top NCAA Division I and Division II programs on the West Coast, recording the fastest 8K time by a C of I athlete since 2012 with a 24 minutes, 24 second time. Martin helped the fifth-ranked Yotes to an eighth-place team finish in the 37-team field that included 12 nationally or regionally ranked teams in NCAA Division I or II.
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 4-ranked College of Idaho’s Molly Vitale-Sullivan was named the Red Lion Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season.
A senior from Pocatello, Idaho, Vitale-Sullivan ran the second-fastest 6K time in C of I program history, clocking in at 21 minutes, 43 seconds. She took 60
th in an extremely competitive field with NCAA Division I and II athletes.
