Four First Half Goals Leads Women’s Soccer To 6-1 Win
With four goals in the first half and another two coming in the second, The Evergreen State College women’s soccer team defeated University of Minnesota-Morris 6-1 Friday afternoon at the Geoduck Pitch.
Evergreen got on the scoreboard early after Maddie Lockwood scored the first goal in the 3rd minute of the game with the assists coming from Alyssa Nordman. Lockwood scored her second goal of the game at the 20th minute.
The third goal of the game came at the 22nd minute by Ally Turkington. She kicked the ball into the back of the net off of a corner kick by Sara Peterson. That was Peterson’s second assists of the game, the first coming on Lockwood’s second goal.
Amanda Rickey scored a goal around the 26th minute with the assists from Lockwood and Evergreen took a 4-0 lead into the half.
In the second half, the Cougars scored their first goal twenty-five seconds into the half by Monica Calderon with the assist from Sam Tate.
The Geoducks scored two more goals in the game at the 70th minute by Colbi Stewart and assist by Peterson and in the 84th minute by Mikayla Kee with the assist from Taylor Birdsall.
Alexis Backus was back in the net for Evergreen. The Geoducks recorded 33 shots for the game with 20 on goal. Minnesota Morris had seven goals for the game with one on goal.
Evergreen and the Cougars will face each other again tomorrow at the Geoduck Pitch at 1 p.m.
