SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball continues to prove itself one of the hottest teams in the NAIA on Friday evening, downing the Multnomah University Lions (68-40) for the team's seventh-straight Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) triumph.

"I really liked our energy and mindset in the first quarter," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "It set the tone for the entire game, and everyone off the bench kept it going."

The defense thrived for the Warriors in the matchup, limiting the Lions to just nine first-half points. Multnomah was only able to put up two points in the second quarter, with their lone basket coming in the final minute of the half. At one point, Corban held its adversary scoreless for over nine minutes (9:12).

The Warriors' offensive attack was consistent as well, scoring at least 15 points in each quarter, averaging 17 points per stanza.

Kendra Murphy drove the attack for the Warriors, scoring 10 points for the Navy and Gold, while going 5-of-6 from the floor. She was the lone Corban player to crack double-digits in the squad's well-rounded offensive onslaught. Twelve of the squad's 13 active members registered a basket in Friday evening's triumph.

Shaelie Burgess poured in eight points and added 10 rebounds, cleaning up at the glass throughout the game. In the back court, Fallon Hanson's shot from long-range was very effective, adding two three-point jumpers en route to a nine-point effort.

It was a night for personal bests, as Shawnie Spink reached her career high assist total with nine in the matchup. Gracie McCoy (seven rebounds) and Josie Ferry (six rebounds) also amassed new season-best benchmarks in the rebounding category.

For Multnomah, it was Dalila Rincan who was the top performer, dropping 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting, while adding five rebounds and rejecting one shot.

As a team, Corban shot 39.7% from the floor, holding Multnomah to a measly 23.5% shooting mark. Behind the arc, the Lions ending the evening shooting at a 13.0% clip.

The red-hot Warriors (11-5, 7-1 CCC) return to the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center tomorrow night for a matchup with the Warner Pacific University Knights. The opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
