Three CCC Teams Ranked in Latest Top-25 Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mustangs of Morningside remain in the No. 1 spot for the second week in a row of the 2019-20 NAIA DII Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday morning by the NAIA office. The Mustangs captured all 12 first-place votes this week.
The Cascade Collegiate Conference saw three teams in the top-25, with another receiving vote. College of Idaho moved up two spots to sit at No. 3 after beating then-ranked Oregon Tech 77-65 back on Dec. 20, 2019. The Hustlin’ Owls drop to No. 5, while Southern Oregon University moved up to No. 15. Northwest University is just on the outside of the poll, receiving votes.

Top 25 Highlights
- The No. 1 Mustangs are ranked in the top five in four different statistical categories including: field goal percentage (.540), scoring defense per game (65.11), total rebound defense (28.50) and scoring margin (18.389)
- The Mustangs are currently undefeated with a record of 18-0 overall. The have made it through half of the Great Plains Athletic Conference schedule at 10-0.
- There were seven newcomers to the poll this week including Oklahoma Wesleyan, Grace (Ind.), Union (Ky.), Southeastern (Fla.), Madonna (Mich.), Mayville State (N.D.) and Holy Cross (Ind.).
- Oregon Tech dropped this week after a loss to then-No. 5 College of Idaho back in December. The Hustling Owls are still No. 1 in the country in scoring margin (22.8) and No. 2 in rebound margin.
- Washington Adventist continues to be on a roll this season. Moving from No. 12 to No. 8 after winning the last five game in a row knocking off their NCAA Division I team Delaware State.
- Indiana Wesleyan holds the longest active streak in the poll with 85-straight appearances.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
