Portland, Ore. | It was a fun end to the night on Bart Valentine Court as the Knights of Warner Pacific picked up a monstrous win on their home floor on Friday as they defeated the Eagles of Northwest University 97-62, led by the dominant performance of Miles Brown who finished the night with 25 points.
The Eagles, who coming into tonight, had only lost one conference game, were held to 62 points, only their second lowest scoring game of the year. The Knights shut down the Eagles offense as they jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead, never looking back. Warner Pac led for the entirety of the contest.
Miles Brown started the game off with a 5-0 run of his own in the first 90-seconds. The Junior out of Sandy could not miss a shot, shooting 11-14 from the field, the only field goals he missed were those of 24-feet and beyond, not to mention he was perfect from the stripe. All in only 23 minutes of play. At the half, Brown had 17.
The game went in favor of the Knights, who seemed to have found their offensive rhythm. The team shot 62.3% from the field and 52.2% from the arch.
In the second half, Warner Pac continued to dominate, going on an 8-0 run capped off by a Kaleb Tompkins 25-footer, stretching the lead out to 31 with 5:37 to play. The Knights started playing with ease and comfort, making the extra passes and sharing the ball.
Three other Knights scored in double-figures: Kaleb Tompkins with 16, shooting 5-6 overall and 100% from deep adding five assists; JD Esters with 12 and Morris Bethea with 10.
The Knights assisted on 26 of 38 made field goals and turned the ball over just six times, meanwhile forcing 17 Eagle turnovers.
Dejuan Walker led the way for the Eagles with 17 points.
Warner Pac will host The Evergreen State College Geoducks Saturday night with a scheduled tip-off of 7:30pm.
