Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period Jan. 13-19, 2020.
Men’s Basketball – Player
Southern Oregon University’s Tate Hoffman was named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The six-foot-seven senior forward from West Linn, Ore., made a game-saving block at the buzzer and scored 12 points in the second half against Oregon Tech. He led his team in scoring on 7-of-11 shooting against Corban University and registered his fourth double-double – including his third 20-10 game – to complete a sweep of the week vs. Northwest Christian University. Hoffman averaged 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.3 steals per game on the week, while boasting a 51.2 shooting percentage.

Women’s Basketball – Player
Southern Oregon University’s Dominique Harding was named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The five-foot-nine sophomore guard from Reno, Nev., established a new career-high with 28 points against No. 22 Northwest Christian University, hitting the game-tying three-pointer with one minute, 56 seconds to go and the game-winning bucket with 1.7 seconds on the clock. She led team in points (19), rebounds (six) and assists (five) vs. Oregon Tech, and hit game-tying free throws with 1:09 left. She finished the week averaging 18.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game, while boasting a 53.8 shooting percentage.

Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Menlo College’s Anthony Orozco was named the Red Lion Men’s Wrestler of the Week.
The top-ranked senior 184-pounder from Murrieta, Calif., had another stellar weekend at the Missouri Valley Invite, going a perfect 5-0 with three tech fall victories and one pin. Orozco, the defending national champion at 184 pounds, defeated the 11
th-, eighth- and fifth-ranked wrestlers in route to the tournament victory. His efforts headlined a second place Menlo team finish out of 42 teams, the best-ever finish for the Oaks at the highly competitive tournament.
Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Eastern Oregon University’s Amber Pair was named the Red Lion Women’s Wrestler of the Week.
The 116-pound senior from Cascade, Idaho, went 4-0 on the weekend with a dual win against Grays Harbor, followed by taking first place at the Oregon Wrestling Classic in the 116-pound weight class. Pair went 3-0 in the tournament with two pins and a decision win to lead EOU to a fourth place team finish.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Corey Sledge was named the Red Lion Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
The junior from Culver, Ore., grabbed an automatic qualifier for the NAIA national championship in the pole vault with a mark of 5.10 meters. It tied for first place at the Bronco Invitational and is the best performance in the NAIA so far this season. On his last attempt, Sledge cleared the bar that matched his height when he won the outdoor national title last May.

Men’s Indoor Track and Field – Track Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Alex Navarro was named the Red Lion Men’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Navarro, a senior from Benton City, Wash., took second at the Bronco Invitational mile event out of nine runners. He clocked in at four minutes, 22.12 seconds, which ranks 10
th in the NAIA so far this season.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field – Field Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Maggie Ledbetter was named the Red Lion Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Ledbetter, a sophomore from Cove, Ore., hit a ‘B’ standard mark in the shot put with a long shot of 13.38 meters to finish sixth out of 36 athletes and was the top non-NCAA Division I finisher. Ledbetter already has an 'A' mark this season of 13.49 meters, ranking eighth in the NAIA this year. She also placed 13th in the weight throw.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field – Track Athlete
Eastern Oregon University’s Megan Bolton was named the Red Lion Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Bolton, a sophomore from Reno, Nev., broke the school record and hit an automatic qualifying mark to nationals in the 600-meter event, finishing with a time of one minute, 35.95 seconds. She finished ninth out of a large field of 31 athletes that included mostly NCAA Division I competition. Her time ranks her fifth in the NAIA so far this season.
