Corvallis, Ore. – 2020 marks the ninth consecutive year Les Schwab Tires will be the title sponsor of the Cascade Collegiate Conference "Champions of Character" activities CCC commissioner Robert Cashell announced. As one of the preeminent companies in the west, Les Schwab is a leader in support of local amateur sports.

"As a group, our member schools take immense pride in our ninth consecutive year associated with Les Schwab Tires," stated Cashell. A partnership with a company that lives their creed of high ethical standards, doing the right thing and being committed to making a difference in the community day in and day out challenges all of us to remain steadfast in that shared set of values."

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character program is designed to instill an understanding of character values in sport and provide practical tools for student-athletes, coaches, and athletic administrators to use in modeling exemplary character traits.

Champions of Character has identified five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership – that go well beyond the playing field to the daily decisions of our youth.  The NAIA Live 5 program teaches student-athletes how they apply the five core values of Champions of Character to everyday life both on and off the field.

Based in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, California Montana and Canada the CCC's 12 full member and eleven associate member institutions are intentional about making the Champions of Character creed a primary focus of their athletic programs. CCC athletic departments help spread the message of the five core values in a variety of ways, including visible displays of sportsmanship, community service by student-athletes and coaches, an emphasis on academic success, public address announcements before every CCC event, and educational efforts built around championships hosted by the conference office and its members.

"Our founder, Les Schwab, believed in supporting the communities where his employees live and work," stated Blake Williams, North Salem, Ore. store manager.  "We believe in supporting organizations and events that teach lessons about responsibility, hard work and serving the community — values the company believes in. That's why we're so proud to be the Champions of Character sponsor for the 9th year in a row."

The CCC annually recognizes one male and one female as The Les Schwab Conference Champions of Character award winners for best exemplifying the core tenets of the program.  A Conference representative is forwarded on for consideration of the National Champions of Character Award. The CCC has had several national winners of the award.

Les Schwab is one of the leading independent tire dealers in the U.S. It has more than 7,000 employees and 400 store locations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Montana, Colorado, California, Nevada and Utah.
