A dominant second and third quarter secured the 75-53 Cascade Conference win for the home side. With this victory, EOU sits at third in the conference standings with a record of 14-7, and 8-3 in CCC play, now one spot above SOU in fourth fourth. HOW IT HAPPENED The Mountaineers played a steady and consistent game, leading against the Raiders from the tip off. The team really kicked it into gear in the third quarter and outscored their opponents 25-14 to grab a commanding lead. The Mountie offense made it difficult for the Raiders to stay in the game, extending their lead to 30 points when senior Rachel Fielder hit a three-point shot just before the end of the quarter. Eastern continued their dominance in the fourth quarter and had a 39 point lead, making the score 71-32. Shortly after, Southern went on a 21-point run of their own to cut the deficit to 71-53, but the late comeback attempt was not enough and the Mounties ran away with the victory. Junior Taylor Stricklin added 14 points, junior Jillian Albright 12 and senior Emma Logan had 10. Fielder paced the team with 10 boards for a double-double while senior Jane Nelson finished with eight.
