CORVALLIS, Ore. – After posting its first undefeated season in program history (17-0-3) and claiming both the regular-season and tournament Cascade Collegiate Conference championships, Corban University was picked as the favorite in the 2021 CCC Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Preseason Poll, released Wednesday.
The Warriors entered the 2019 campaign under new management with a new head coach and quickly established itself. Corban finished the year with its seventh-straight trip to the NAIA Championship and picked up 11 first-place votes and 193 points in the preseason poll.
Rocky Mountain College followed in second place with 176 points after finishing last year with a 12-5 overall record and a trip to the CCC Soccer Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank.
Southern Oregon University grabbed three first-place votes and 167 points in the preseason poll after advancing last season to the CCC tournament semifinals. The Raiders finished the year with a 13-5-2 overall record.
Eastern Oregon University picked up 135 points to sit in fourth place, while Oregon Tech rounded out the top-five with 116 points. Just two points behind the Owls is the University of Providence with 114 points. Three points separated Northwest University (109 points, seventh) and The Evergreen State College (106 points, eighth), with Carroll College (94 points) and Warner Pacific (83 points) closing out the top-10 of the poll.
College of Idaho (79 points), Bushnell University (42 points), Walla Walla University (28 points) and Multnomah University (21 points) filled in the final four spots of the poll.
This year’s soccer season start was delayed until the spring, with the championship tournament being held April 7, 8, and 10 in Springfield, Ore.
