CORVALLIS, Ore. – Jet Taylor from Eastern Oregon University was selected as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Vice Chair by her fellow CCC-SAAC representatives, announced Monday.
The Vice Chair serves on the CCC-SAAC leadership team with current Chair Lexi Sanchez (The Evergreen State College), and co-advisors Sarah Freeman (Bushnell University) and Sammi Wellman (Cascade Collegiate Conference). Taylor was one of three nominees – along with Brooks Juhasz (Lewis-Clark State College) and Mary Grace Blaser (Bushnell University) – that the 21 remaining CCC-SAAC reps voted on.
“I am very humbled and grateful to receive this position as the vice chair of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the Cascade Collegiate Conference,” said Taylor. “This opportunity means so much to me because I see it as an opportunity to learn and cultivate myself into a better servant, leader, and friend.”
As Vice Chair, Taylor will help with the development of meeting agendas; development of topics of interest for the SAAC committee; serve as a key liaison, along with Sanchez, to the Athletic Directors and Presidents group when necessary; and help communicate CCC information to all campuses. There is also potential to serve on national NAIA committees, representing the CCC.
Taylor is a junior volleyball player for the Mountaineers and hopes to help identify problems student-athletes might face and create solutions for them as the CCC-SAAC Vice Chair, as well as bring awareness of SAAC as a resource to the student-athletes.
