PORTLAND, Ore. – Playing their fourth-straight NCAA Division I opponent, The College of Idaho had four players in double figures and held a sizable rebound edge, but the University of Portland used a 17-4 first half run to pull away, holding off the Coyotes, 88-74, at the Chiles Center.

Ahmed Ali scored a game-high 22 points and Michael Henn scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half, as the Pilots (5-1) won their fifth-straight game.

"We are extremely proud of our guys," said C of I head coach Colby Blaine. "We battled for 40 minutes and continue got get better every minute we play."

UP rode eight points from Henn in the opening minutes, grabbing a 10-3 lead. Jalen Galloway answered with a 3-point play for the Yotes (1-4), followed by 3's from Johnny Radford and Tyler Robinett, as C of I pulled even at 12-12.

A second Robinett triple midway through the period got C of I within 20-18, but the Coyote offense went ice cold, missing 10 straight shots and logging six turnovers in a seven minute stretch, allowing the Pilots to open a 40-25 lead at the break.

"We struggled to score at the end of the first half and committed to many turnovers," Blaine said. "However, we continue to find areas we can improve on."

Derek Wadsworth cut the margin to 46-36 with consecutive triples, but Henn and Isiah Dasher answered with 3's, part of a 10-0 UP run to break the game open.

The hosts shot 53-percent for the game and withstood a dominating performance by C of I on the glass, as the Coyotes held a 47-33 rebound edge, including 20 offensive boards that turned into 20 second-chance points. The Pilots forced 21 C of I turnovers.

"We had some specific goals to focus on coming into the game – including winning the rebound battle, limiting transition points and getting to the foul line – and accomplished them all," Blaine said.

Ricardo Time led the Yotes with a season-high 19 points – 16 coming in the second half.

C of I closes out the 2020 portion of their schedule on Thursday, traveling to Seattle University for a 6 p.m. (PT) tip-off.
