Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period Feb. 3-9, 2020.
Men’s Basketball – Player
Northwest University’s Hussayn Ford was named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, his second of the year.
The six-foot-six senior forward from Seattle grabbed his 1,000
th career point and two double-doubles to help the Eagles secure a spot in the CCC championship tournament, presented by U.S. Bank. He scored 24 points in both games, finishing with a 65.6 field goal percentage on the week. Off the glass, Ford averaged 13.5 rebounds. He also had six assists and two blocks on the week.

Women’s Basketball – Player
Oregon Tech’s Kristin Farrell was named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The five-foot-eight sophomore guard from Reno, Nev., had an incredible weekend, averaging 22.0 points per game to lift the Owls to two wins, including an upset over No. 17-ranked Northwest Christian University. Farrell scored the game-winning basket against Corban University to finish with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, before following with a career-high 29 points (9-for-13) against the Beacons. Farrell shot 71.4-percent on the weekend, including 66.7-perecent from long range by making 8-of-12 from behind the arc, and was perfect at the charity stripe.

Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Menlo College’s Anthony Orozco was named the Red Lion Men’s Wrestler of the Week, his second award of the year.
The top-ranked 184-pound senior from Murrieta, Calif., put an exclamation mark on the 2019-20 regular season for the Oaks as he secured a takedown late in the third period to pick up a crucial dual win over NCAA Div. II No. 3-ranked Justin Pichedwatana. His win helped lead the Oaks to their first-ever win in Atherton over San Francisco State and also marked the first time they've gone undefeated in a regular season, finishing 9-0.
Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Southern Oregon University’s Macie Stewart was named the Red Lion Women’s Wrestler of the Week, her second honor of the year.
The 109-pound sophomore from Springfield, Ore., pinned three-straight opponents on her way to second place in her bracket at Saturday's McKendree Bearcat Invitational. All three pins were under 90 seconds, including a 55-second pin of McKendree’s Natalie Reyna to send Stewart into the championship bout.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field – Field Athlete
College of Idaho’s Kristopher Kostelecky was named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
The senior from Twin Falls, Idaho, broke C of I’s indoor high jump and tied the Yotes’ all-time high jump record as he tied for first at the Jackson’s/Nike Invite. Kostelecky hit the NAIA "A" mark with the clearance of 6-9, which currently is the No. 9 mark in the NAIA.

Men’s Indoor Track and Field – Track Athlete
College of Idaho’s Kendrik Caldwell was named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
The sophomore from Nampa, Idaho, hit the NAIA "A" standard and recorded the 10
th-best mark in the NAIA this season with a score of 4,563 points in the heptathlon at the Mountain State Games. Caldwell had personal best times of 9.00 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles and 7.32 seconds in the 60-meters, adding a clearance of 3.63 meters in the pole vault.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field – Field Athlete
College of Idaho’s Catylynn Duff was named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year.
The sophomore from Cuver, Ore., broke the C of I school record and improved her NAIA "A" standard in the weight throw with a second-place finish. Duff posted a throw of 53 feet, seven inches.

Women’s Indoor Track and Field – Track Athlete
Oregon Tech’s Danielle de Castro was named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, her second honor of the year.
The senior from Seattle won the University of Portland 3k event, hitting an NAIA "A" as she beat NCAA DI and DII athletes. De Castro set a new school record with a time of 10 minutes, 2.15 seconds and is now fourth on the NAIA list.

Baseball – Pitcher
College of Idaho’s Nick Kindred was named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
The six-foot senior from Boerne, Tex., was key in both C of I wins in California, picking up a five-out save in Game 2 of the series vs. Baker. Kindred followed it up with a solid six-inning relief appearance to earn the win in the series finale. He allowed just two earned runs in 7.2 innings of work without a walk.
Baseball – Player
College of Idaho’s Jonah Hultberg was named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week for the second-straight week.
The five-foot-11 freshman catcher from Boise, Idaho, ran his hit-streak to nine games, recording four multi-hit games in C of I's five contests. Hultberg added three walks and two stolen bases to record a .667 on-base percentage. He finished the week with a .556 batting average with 10 hits, four runs, and one RBI.
Softball – Pitcher
Southern Oregon University’s Gabby Sandoval was named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
The five-foot-three senior from Anaheim, Calif., led the top-ranked Raiders to five wins on the year. She her second save of the year and didn’t allow any runs in a 10-5 victory over No. 11-ranked Hope International. Sandoval finished the week with 16 strikeouts.
Softball – Player
Southern Oregon University’s Lauren Quirke was named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
The five-foot-six senior third baseman from San Mateo, Calif., helped the No. 1-ranked Raiders go 7-1 on the week, with four wins over Top-25 ranked teams. Quirke had 17 hits – including six for extra bases – and 11 RBI. Also allowed three earned runs in eight innings in the circle, including a five-hit, five-inning shutout of San Diego Christian. She finished the week with a .586 batting average – with four doubles, a triple and a home run – nine runs, two walks and a stolen base.
