LINCOLN, Calif. – Allie Stines reached base eight times in nine plate appearances and Gabby Sandoval moved within one win of tying the Cascade Conference career pitching record as No. 1 Southern Oregon split a doubleheader at William Jessup (Calif.) on Friday afternoon.

The Warriors (2-4) stole the opener, 3-2, by scoring two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning on a passed ball and a fielding error. In Game 2, Stines went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored as the Raiders (11-3) totaled 12 hits and skated to a 10-2 win.

Sandoval worked around 10 hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in a complete game, improving to 6-0 and bringing her four-year win total to 83.

Lauren Quirke was sharp in the circle, too, in Game 1. The senior went the distance and had a 2-1 lead after Katrina Winterburn's sacrifice fly brought in Stines in the top of the seventh.

With one out in the bottom half, Shay Trent singled, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored the tying run when Quirke's delivery got by Stines. Kaela Hangebrauck then walked and stole second, and a fielding error on Terra Goetz's grounder to Quirke allowed her to come home.

Quirke, Winterburn, Rylan Austin and Olivia Mackey each had two hits, but SOU left 11 runners on base. Mackey hit an RBI single to plate the first run of the game in the fourth against WJU's Katie Blankenheim, who turned in a complete game.

In support of Sandoval, the Raiders went up 2-0 in the second, scored four runs in the fifth and tacked on three more in the sixth. After her RBI triple in the second, Stines opened the fifth inning with a run-scoring single before Quirke and Tayler Walker followed suit. Stines and Austin had RBI singles in the sixth, and Avery Morehead-Hutsell had the last in the seventh.

Morehead-Hutsell and Hannah Shimkek both scored three runs and Quirke and Austin both recorded two hits.

The Raiders will start CCC play with a four-game series next Friday and Saturday at Northwest Christian and Eugene. They'll be at home for the first time Feb. 28 against Eastern Oregon.
