EOU Wins 81-65 on Senior Night to Extend Winning Streak to 12

LA GRANDE, Ore.-  It was another successful home weekend for the Eastern Oregon women's basketball team as they downed another Cascade Conference opponent in Evergreen State (6-16, 6-13 CCC) 81-65 on Senior Night in Quinn Coliseum, extending the team's winning streak to 12 games.

Seven seniors were honored on the night in Jane Nelson, Madison Crews, Emma Logan, Andi Warn, Kylie Smith, Whitney Meier, and Rachel Fielder. The dominant senior class posed an enormous threat on the court as they started their last regular season conference game in Quinn Coliseum.

Nelson led the Mountaineers (21-7, 15-3 CCC), tallying 14 points, five rebounds, and three steals. She shot 50% from field goal range and went 2-for-7 from behind the arc. Logan earned a double-double on the night with 13 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 6-for-11 from the field. She also added seven assists as she nearly had a triple-double. Junior Megan Still added 10 points shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Warn had eight points of her own, Smith earned seven, Crews and Fielder both had six, and Meier collected five.

Trinity Betoney scored 19 to lead the Geoducks, who made nine three pointers on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After ending the first quarter down by just two 18-16, the Mountaineers took the first two points of the second quarter when senior Fielder connected on a three-point basket. After regaining the lead, the Mountaineers continued to take control of the game ending the first half up 33-26.

Creating even more distance, Warn, Fielder, and Logan started off the third quarter with points and after no answer back from the Geoducks, EOU was a comfortable 14 points ahead. Never letting up, the Mountaineers ended the third with a lead of 29. Proving to be too much for Evergreen, the start of the fourth and final quarter was much like that of the third, with the Mountaineers directing the game. Despite a push from the Geoducks, who scored a total of 25 points in the final quarter compared to EOU's 12, the game was already well in hand as the Blue and Gold won 81-65.

BY THE NUMBERS
36 - The Mountaineers scored 36 points in the third quarter alone, more than the first and second quarter combined.
50 - Eastern shot 50 percent from the field, going 33-for-66 on the night.
54 - EOU dominated the glass, accumulating 54 total rebounds while the Geoducks managed 29.

UP NEXT
The Mountaineers hit the road and take on Corban and Northwest Christian next Friday and Saturday for their last games of the CCC regular season. Corban and Northwest Christian are two of the Mountaineers' three CCC losses, posing an opportunity to split even 1-1 in Cascade Conference play. EOU will win the CCC title outright with two victories next week.
