Walla Walla Picks Up First-Ever Win Against Northwest University
College Place, Wash. - Walla Walla played the Northwest University in a nail-biting game, where they took their first-ever win over the Eagles, 63-59.
Within the first minutes of the game, Northwest took the lead over Walla Walla (4-13). Both teams were playing a physical game. The wolves stayed in the game, playing aggressively and working hard to close the gap.
The Wolves came back in the first 3 minutes of the second quarter to get the game within 3 points (20-23). The Wolves are playing a strong defense creating many steals, holding the Eagles to a close game.
Throughout the second half, the Wolves worked hard and with 4 minutes left to go, made a major comeback, taking the lead, 50-49. Carolina Montes helped the Wolves take control of the game by shooting three threes that helped them catch up, tie the game, and then get ahead. The Wolves were unstoppable and were playing tight defense and making their shots, helping them in winning the game 63-59.
Northwest was led by both Maya DuChesne and Sam Van Loo who both had 10 points. The Wolves were led by Carolina Montes with 21 points and Isabella Robles who had 18 points.
The Wolves and the Eagles will meet back at Windemuth Court Saturday night at 7:30 pm, to play in their second game.
