Broome Officially Named Walla Walla University Men’s Basketball Coach
College Place, Wash. - Brandon Broome has been officially named the men's basketball head coach at Walla Walla University (WWU) in addition to continuing to serve as Compliance Coordinator, Wolves Interim Director of Athletics Paul Starkebaum announced Wednesday evening.
"We are excited to have Coach Broome officially become the next men's basketball coach at Walla Walla University," said Starkebaum. "Brandon has done an excellent job leading a young team this season and has been a positive influence in our athletic program from the moment he started."
Broome will lead WWU's men's basketball coaching staff after serving as the interim men's basketball head coach for the Wolves during the 19-20 season, which saw the Wolves pick up the most conference wins (5) in their Cascade Collegiate Conference five-year history and accomplish their best win total (7) since the 2014-15 campaign.
"We are confident he will be a positive leader, build great relationships, and help lead our men's basketball team in a relationship with Christ," added Starkebaum. Brandon has already set a record for Cascade Conference wins this season by a Walla Walla University men's coach, and we are excited to see what he can do moving forward."
Broome was involved in the summer basketball circuit during his tenure in Florida, assisting head coach Anthony Johnson with the Miami Suns organization. The team qualified for the Nationals twice during his five years coaching stint with the team. With the success of their primary team, the Miami Suns were able to expand their program from 14U to 17U and Broome would become head coach of the second 16U team.

A graduate from Oakwood University with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education in 2010, Broome has always pursued excellence and is also a former collegiate basketball player. He suited up for Oakwood between 2007-2010 where he helped guide the school to it's first of four United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championships as a member of the 2008 team. Broome also claimed the USCAA Slam Dunk Contest in 2008.
Broome believes that his love for basketball and his vision for Adventist athletics can help Walla Walla University grow their men's program. "It is a dream come true, and I want this program to truly embody the spirit of the Wolf and embrace the pack mentality," said Broome. "I have spent many days and nights discussing and thinking about the opportunity to develop an Adventist powerhouse. I have the chance to do just that and I am excited for what the Lord has in store. It is no easy task, but it would not be nearly as fun if it was easy."
Broome lives in College Place with wife, Alyssa Broome and their baby boy, Brandon. He enjoys playing sports, with basketball and golf at the front, video games, comics, and cinema.
