KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Junior Kylie Smith hit a bases loaded 3-run double in the top of the 6th inning to lead the No.19 College of Idaho past No.8 Oregon Tech 6-5 in the rubber game of the tripleheader Friday at Stilwell Stadium. Smith had a very good day for the Yotes with 6-hits and 9-RBI in the three game series. C of I took game one by a 12-2 score with the Owls grabbing game two 5-4. The Yotes improve to 10-6 overall and 4-2 in CCC play with the Owls slipping to 2-4 in conference action and 8-9 on the year.
 
"After a rough start in game one, the team bounced back to play better in the next two games," said OIT head coach Greg Stewart. "Sarah had a gritty performance today but unfortunately we fell just short of winning the series."
 
Game 1 College of Idaho 12 Oregon Tech 2
 
College of Idaho got off to a hot start with 2-runs in the top of the first, 3-runs in the 2nd and 3rd to take an 8-0 lead through the first three innings.
 
CI then broke the game wide open with a 4-run 4th to go up 12-0 before the Owls finally scored 2-runs in the bottom of the 4th before the game was called 12-2 after 5-innings on the mercy rule.
 
Smith had three hits in the game with 2-runs scored and 2-RBI to lead the Yotes with Trystin Crofts, Lauren Gordon, and Lexi Navarrette adding two-hits each in the runaway win.
 
Brianna Griffiths had two-of the Owls five hits in the game.
 
Hannah McNerney picked up the win for CI while Sarah Abramson picked up the loss for OIT.
 
Game 2 Oregon Tech 5 College of Idaho 4
 
An Olivia Lethlean triple in the bottom of first inning highlighted a 2-run, 3-hit at bat that gave the Owls the early 2-0 lead. College of Idaho answered with 1-run in the top of the second to cut the OIT lead in half at 2-1.
 
A Shelby Hotchkiss double in the 4th increased the Owls' lead to 5-1. That lead held until the top of the 7th when College of Idaho scored 3-runs off a two-out triple by Smith, trimming the Owls' lead to 5-4. Abramson was able to induce a ground out to the next hitter as she and the Hooter picked up the win.
 
Each team only had 5-hits in the game with the Owls taking advantage of 4 errors by the Yotes.
 
Abramson improved to 4-5 on the season in the circle with Natalie Sell only giving up 1-earned run as she drops to 1-1 on the year.
 
Game 3 College of Idaho 6 Oregon Tech 5
 
Tech's Neenah Pangilinan broke-up a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the 3rd with a long towering home run to left giving OIT a 3-1 lead; it was her team leading 3rd homer of the season.
 
Each team scored 1-run the 4th and 5th inning to make it a 5-3 game heading to the 6th.
 
Smith did it to the Owls again in the top of the 6th as she delivered a 3-run, 2-out double to left-center that gave the Yotes a 6-5 lead.
 
Oregon Tech is next scheduled to travel to Helena, Montana for a four game series at Carroll College. College of Idaho will return home to Caldwell to host Northwest University next weekend.
