Eugene, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men’s basketball team was looking to keep their four game winning streak alive Friday night against No. 8 Southern Oregon University but fell 94-66.
The Beacons (13-12, 8-7 CCC) took a 2-0 lead in the first minute of the contest but SOU took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by sophomore Teron Bradford.
The Raiders (19-5, 13-3 CCC) shot 49% from the field, and hit 10 3-pointers, collecting 19 assists. NCU shot 30% and were just 4-for-24 from outside. SOU out-rebounded the Beacons, 46-39.
There were some bright spots for the Beacons, as senior Ernest Ugoagu and freshmen Stevie Schlabach both scored 14 points while senior Shawn Carson tallied seven rebounds and two blocks on the defensive end.
The Raiders had all but one player score Friday evening. Leading the Raiders were Bradford with 20 points and senior Tate Hoffman who contributed 15 points of his own.
The Beacons will have to move on quickly from this contest as they host another nationally ranked team on Saturday night when No. 12 Oregon Tech visits Morse Event Center at 7:30 p.m. Southern Oregon heads to Salem to take on Corban.
