SALEM, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team faced a Southern Oregon Raiders team that was looking to vault themselves ahead in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) standings as regular season play begins to wind down. The game looked to be going in the Warriors' favor up until the fourth quarter, where the Raiders outscored Corban by an eight-point margin, 16-8. The rugged fourth-quarter effort netted SOU an exciting 56-52 victory over the Navy and Gold.

"Every game in this conference is a battle, and this one was no different," said head coach Bill Pilgeram. "We had great effort and intensity for three quarters, but Southern was able to make some big plays down the stretch."

The Warriors were strong on the offensive end in the first half, putting up a total of 33 points in the first two periods. The second half was another story. The Navy and Gold turned the ball over 19 times in the entirety of the game, 13 of which came in the second half. Corban was only able to attempt 23 shots in the second half, compared to SOU's 33 tries from the field. Due to the turnovers, a damper was placed on the offensive output.

The Navy and Gold improved on their previous night's shooting percentage, draining 41.5% of their shots on Saturday evening. They also took 16 fewer shots than they did on Friday night, which is indicative of the low point totals. In addition, Corban was just 1-of-9 from three in the contest.

Jordan Woodvine showed her all-around valuableness in this one, scoring 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting, and collecting seven rebounds and four assists to go along with those points. She also was able to sink her two free-throw attempts.

Shaelie Burgess posted another double-digit rebound performance, scooping up 11 boards in 29 minutes of play.

Kendra Murphy scored 13 points and shot 6-of-12 (50%). Her five rebounds added to another team advantage on the boards, this time by nine total rebounds, 44-35.

Delaney Sparling was key to the Raiders' win in Salem, scoring 12 points while only making three-pointers. Her 4-of-10 performance included a 4-of-9 performance from beyond the arc.

Southern also leaned on Syd'Nee Fryer for offense and rebounding, as she was just one point away from a double-double. She put up nine points and 12 rebounds for SOU in the triumph.

The Warriors (14-10, 10-6 CCC) have dropped three straight conference battles, and will be looking ahead to next weekend's road clashes against Warner Pacific on February 14 and Multnomah University on February 15. Tipoff for each matchup in Portland in set for 5:30 p.m.
