DeHart, Redford & Talkington Earn All-American at WCWA Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior Jessica DeHart, junior Dempsi Talkington and sophomore Erin Redford each finished off the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships as All-Americans on Saturday, leading the women's wrestling team to an 11th place team finish.
 
DeHart took fourth place overall in the 109 pound weight class, becoming the program's first-ever three-time All-American. DeHart was an All-American as a sophomore in 2017 and junior in 2018 before redshirting last year.
 
The senior DeHart went 3-2 overall in the tourney and 1-2 on Saturday. After dropping her semifinal match, DeHart won her first consolation match by a pin to advance to the third place match. There, she lost a close battle by a 15-10 score to take fourth place.
 
Redford had the team's most wins overall in the tourney as she went 5-2 overall in the 143 pound weight class. After going 3-1 on day one, Redford opened her Saturday slate of matches with a pin of Cambellsville's Mhina Oseltutu. She then fell in the consolation semis be a close 5-3 score to reach the fifth place matchup. There, Redford defeated Grace Miller of Umpqua CC to grab fifth place overall and claim All-American for the first time in her career.
 
Talkington went 1-1 on day two, finishing 4-2 overall in the tournament. After dropping her first match of day two, Talkington went to the seventh place matchup where she defeated Grays Harbor's Emma Justo by a 5-1 score to earn seventh place and secure her first All-American award.
 
The Mountaineers overall took 11th place as a team, tying Gannon with 50 team points. Cambellsville won the tournament with 230 points, followed by Life with 113.
 
EOU will next be at the first CCC Women's Wrestling Championships, which will be held in Ashland, Oregon on Feb. 29.
