Under Armour Team of the Week Announced
CORVALLIS, Ore. –The College of Idaho men's and Northwest Christian University women's basketball squads share the “Under Armour Team of the Week” honors for March 2-8 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Both programs earned CCC Tournament Titles reaching historic heights along the way.
On Monday The No. 13 Beacons defeated Southern Oregon University 80-65 earning their first ever tournament trophy to go along with their program first regular season title. Player of the Year Morgan McKinney led NCU with a game-high 25 points on 11-for-18 shooting to go with her seven rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.
On Tuesday it was the men’s turn. The No. 1 ranked Yotes, coming off of a perfect 20-0 regular season and wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals were looking to defend their tournament title against No. 8 ranked Oregon Tech. In an intense game in front of a packed house CI claimed the crown with an 82-77 victory. Defensive Player of the Year Talon Pinckney also led the Yotes with 23-points.
College of Idaho (30-3, 20-0 CCC) and Northwest Christian (26-5, 17-3 CCC) will be action this week at their respective NAIA National Tournaments.
