With COVID-19 putting live sporting events on hold, the Cascade Collegiate Conference wanted to take the time to highlight families within our #ThisIsTheCCC community. Many of our member institutions have administration, coaches and student-athletes family members competing together, making the CCC truly a family affair.
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Derek and Dylan Irvine grew up in a competitive home, but now they get to compete together for the Walla Walla University men’s golf team.
While the Irvine household may have had its fair share of heating competitions growing up, Derek and Dylan, along with brother Daron, have always supported one another.
That competition and support led to Dylan following in his older brother’s footsteps, playing golf in college for the Wolves. Dylan just finished his collegiate debut, while Derek is a senior at WWU.
“I only recently decided to play golf in college because of my older brother,” said Dylan, a business pre-physical therapy major. “It’s been awesome seeing and practicing with him all the time.”
While the pair’s season was unfortunately cut short due to the corona virus, the Irvine brothers made the most of their time out on the green together.
