CCC Sports Information Directors Recognized by NAIA-SIDA

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The student-athletes of the Cascade Collegiate Conference may be the ones actually competing, but it’s the job of the sports information directors (SIDs) to tell their stories, in all kinds of communication.
 
With the caliber of athletes in the CCC, it makes an SID’s job easier to do and multiple sports information directors and other marketing staff from member schools were recognized for their talent by the NAIA-SIDA.
 
College of Idaho’s Mike Safford, Jr., who earlier this year was named the CCC SID of the Year, placed in multiple categories. He ranked second (football) and eighth (basketball) in the Walt McAlexander Publications Game Day Programs Contest, sixth in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Feature Story Contest, seventh in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Game Recap Contest, and fourth in the “Call of the Year” for his work on the mic.
 
Fellow Coyote Sven Alskog took 10th in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Season Preview/Review Contest, while Northwest University’s Ray Fink took third in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Game Recap Contest and third and sixth in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Season Preview/Review Contest.
 
Northwest Christian University’s Nick Askew had two game recaps place in the top-10 and took second in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Season Preview/Review Contest. He also took ninth in the Digital Media Production Splash Page/Wallpaper Contest. NCU’s website was recognized as the 10th-best website, while NCU’s Jayden Tucker took 10th in the season/game highlights category of the Digital Media Production Contest.
 
Carroll College’s Erik Anderson wrote a feature store called “Dane Time” that took second in the Dr. Jack Bell Writing Feature Story Contest. He also took sixth in the season preview/review category.
 
Corban University was recognized as eighth-best website in Digital Media Production Contest. Corban’s Jarrett Thoren won the feature video category for a feature on women’s golf and his coworker Marissa Kendall was right behind with a feature on the men’s basketball team.
 
Vanguard’s Andrew Baffa took sixth and 10th in best splash page/wallpaper design, while C of I’s Hannah Matsen took seventh. C of I’s Adam Eschbach took ninth in publicity video and Baffa had two videos take ninth and 10th in the feature category.
