CORVALLIS, Ore. – Cascade Collegiate Conference Director of Communications Sammi Wellman has been elected to serve on the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors during the NAIA divisional day of the 2020 CoSIDA virtual convention Friday afternoon.

“I am very honored to be selected by my peers to be on the NAIA-SIDA Board of Directors,” said Wellman. “I look forward to working with the other members of the Board and doing my part in helping elevate NAIA-SIDA.”

Wellman was selected as one of two At-Large representative openings for the NAIA-SIDA board, which serves as the leadership group for all Sports Information Directors in the NAIA. Wellman will be one of four at-large representatives on the board, serving a two-year term. She will serve as the liaison to one of seven committees related to sports information and will participate in monthly conference calls with fellow board members

A former NAIA student-athlete, Wellman joined the CCC in 2019 after serving as the Director of Sports Information at California Baptist University for nearly six years. She helped the Lancers transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II and NCAA Division I during her time at CBU.

In 2017, Wellman was named a WoSIDA (Women of CoSIDA) Woman to Watch and is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She has served on numerous CoSIDA committees, including CoSIDA U, which helps educate future sports information directors about the profession – something Wellman is very passionate about.

Wellman has experience at every level of collegiate athletics after having worked in sports information at San Francisco State (NCAA Division II), Humboldt State (NCAA Division II), the University of Redlands (NCAA Division III) and Citrus College (junior college). As an undergraduate, Wellman was an intern in the sports information department at Azusa Pacific University (NAIA).

Wellman graduated from APU in 2010 with a degree in journalism after finishing her athletic career in women's soccer as a goalkeeper. She was the recipient of the Dr. Leroy Walker Champion of Character award for the Cougars her senior year.
