CORVALLIS, Ore. – Heading into the 2020-21 year, 24 student-athletes were named to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), representing their schools.
Maxwell Jeffrey is one of Corban University’s two SAAC representatives this year. The senior baseball player is majoring in interdisciplinary studies – political science and history – and plans to join the military after graduating Corban.
“I wanted a place where I could grow spiritually, athletically, and academically, in a challenging and competitive environment,” said Jeffrey on why he chose Corban. “Corban is the ideal place for that.”
Being a student-athlete has shown Jeffrey valuable lessons, like how to manage his time.
“Time management is the toughest obstacle,” said Jeffrey. “You have to be efficient to perform highly in multiple aspects.”
The Ferndale, Wash., native also enjoys competing at a high level with his Warrior team.
“Facing adversity with my baseball team and learning to enjoy the pressure of an intense, highly competitive environment,” said Jeffrey. Corban has also allowed Jeffrey to meet some influential people like his coach, Derek Legg, and “awesome professors like Allen Jones and Scot Bruce.”
When not playing baseball or studying, Jeffrey loves to “hit up the nickel arcade.” He wants to “help [his] school in whatever ways [he] can” as a SAAC rep.
