CORVALLIS, Ore. – Men’s and women’s basketball teams from the College of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State College will participate in a revised Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament the conference office announced Tuesday.

"As a result of COVID-19 leading to several of our institutions opting out of play, as well as a prohibition on high contact sports in the state of Oregon, we have come up with a unique format to identify our automatic qualifier (AQ) to the NAIA National Tournament for our two institutions still pursuing NAIA postseason,” stated CCC Commissioner Robert Cashell.

C of I and LC State will participate in a best-of-three series, with the winner earning the AQ and advancing. Whichever team does not receive the AQ will need to rely on an at-large selection into the NAIA tournament.

The women will play February 17, 20 and 26, with the men playing on February 18, 21 and 27. The third games are listed if necessary. All games will be at 7 p.m. local time and carried via live streaming. No fans are permitted at CCC events.

The first game will be hosted by whichever team is ranked higher on the Feb.10 NAIA Coaches’ polls. In the event neither team is ranked or receiving votes, hosting will be determined by using previous head-to-head competition, if any. If still tied, the highest overall winning percentage for all counting competitions, not including Division I opponents, will be used.

Game two will be hosted at the opposite teams’ venue from game one. If a third game is necessary hosting will be determined by a coin flip conducted at the conference office.

In the most recent national polls, the Warrior men rank No. 4 with the Yotes ranked No. 23. On the women’s side, LC State is receiving votes while C of I is not ranked.
