Cannon Nets Career-High 17 in 64-45 Win Over Simpson
CALDWELL, Idaho – Led by a career-high 17 points from Allie Cannon, The College of Idaho took care of business in a 64-45 win over Simpson University on Friday night inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Cannon, a sophomore from Blackfoot, added eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a strong all-around effort.
C of I (2-7) built a sizable lead early against the Red Hawks (0-3), jumping on top 18-6 after a quarter and 34-16 after a half of play.
The Yotes controlled the game from start to finish, with Simpson taking the lead just once for 12 seconds.
In addition to Cannon, senior forward Kiersten Rasmussen finished with a huge game, totaling 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four blocks.
Rasmussen was a presence on the inside throughout the night, with the Soda Springs native joining forces with her teammates to total nine blocks for the game.
Kaylee Krusemark also tallied double-digits, pouring in 13 points in just 17 minutes of action, highlighted by three connections from downtown.
Freshman Jada Reed stepped up in a key effort at the point guard position in the absence of Cierra Dvorak, scoring four points, hauling down nine rebounds, dishing out four assists and swiping a pair of steals.
Lexi Mitchell was an efficient 4-of-6 from the field and contributed nine points, four rebounds and two blocks, while Sophia Jackson buried a pair of 3-pointers to finish with seven points.
The 64 points scored marked a new season-high for the Yotes, who shot 22-of-55 (40 percent) from the floor and 7-of-22 (32 percent) on 3-pointers.
Simpson was held to an 18-of-69 (26 percent) mark from the field and 2-of-18 (11 percent) tally from the perimeter.
C of I won the rebounding battle 51-35 for the night.
