Cottage Grove, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State, who was ranked No. 3 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll, opened up their 2020-2021 campaign on Friday with a victory in the Bushnell Invitational, taking place at Middlefield Golf Course.
The Warriors scored 33 points to take a ten-point victory over No. 22 Oregon Tech. Northwest University scored 48 points while host Bushnell came in fourth with 109.
All-American Cole Olsen (pictured) led the way for LC, cruising to a 16-second victory as the only runner to break the 25-minute mark in the 8000 meter course. Olsen came across in 24 minutes, 50.4 seconds to defeat Mark French from Oregon Tech (25:06.2). His time was better than his fourth-place finishing time at the 2019 NAIA National Championship.
Clayton Van Dyke from Lewis-Clark (25:26.5), Jonas Hartline from OIT (25:30.9) and Dawson Andrews from Northwest (25:43.4) rounded out the top-five. Bushnell was led by Christopher Rosebrook, taking 18th (28:00.1).
