WVT Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. The following 10 CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the WVT Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during the period Oct. 18-24, 2021.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Attacker
Lewis-Clark State College’s Grecia Ung Enriquez was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Attacker of the Week.
 
Ung Enriquez, a freshman outside hitter from Sonora, Mexico, had a career-high 20 kills on a .436 clip in the Warriors' five-set victory over Northwest University. She helped LC State to three victories over the week, averaging 3.45 kills per set on a .364 attack percentage.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Defender
Lewis-Clark State College’s Kenzie Dean was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Defender of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Dean, a junior defensive specialist from Athol, Idaho, remained a consistent leader in the LC State back row. She collected 52 digs on the week to help the Warriors to three-straight victories, averaging 4.73 digs per set. Dean also tallied three service aces and dealt four assists.
 
Women’s Volleyball - Setter
College of Idaho’s Sidney Frith was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Volleyball Setter of the Week.
 
Frith, a sophomore setter from Meridian, Idaho, averaged a season-best 11.5 assists per set in C of I's three matches – including a season-high 44 assists vs. Multnomah University. She finished the week averaging 11.50 assists per set, along with 2.20 digs per set.
 
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Southern Oregon University’s Jessie Selby was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year.
 
Selby, a senior goalkeeper from Vancouver, Wash., collected six saves to preserve the shutout in SOU’s 2-0 victory over Corban University. It marked SOU’s third shutout in a row and fifth in seven games.
 
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
No. 23-ranked Oregon Tech’s Sylvia Sloss was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Sloss, a junior forward from Penryn, Calif., had a big weekend, having a hand in four of the Owls’ seven goals. She scored the insurance goal in a 2-0 win over Corban University and scored a pair and had an assist in OIT’s 5-0 blanking over Bushnell University.
 
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Eastern Oregon University’s Dalton Mauzay was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Mauzay, a senior goalkeeper from Cheney, Wash., played 150 minutes in goal for the Mounties and grabbed two wins. He picked up a shutout with EOU’s 1-0 win over Carroll College, making eight saves in the game. Mauzay added another save in the Mounties’ 6-0 blanking over Multnomah University.

Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
College of Idaho’s Ben Garrick was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Garrick, a freshman forward from Dundee, Scottland, had a goal and three assists in the Coyotes’ 9-0 win over Walla Walla University. He also scored the game-winning goal against the wind in a 3-0 victory over Carroll College. Garrick finished the week with two goals and three assists with four of his five shots coming on frame.
 
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 9-ranked College of Idaho’s Ellyse Tingelstad was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
 
Tingelstad, a sophomore from Joseph, Ore., picked up her first collegiate win at the Warrior Invite. She helped C of I defeat three ranked teams to win the team title after posting a 15-second personal best time of 17 minutes, 31 seconds in the 5K.
 
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 9-ranked Oregon Tech’s Mark French was named the WVT Laboratory Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this year.
 
French, a senior from Tualatin, Ore., finished the 8K first with a new school record time of 24:07.6 at the Warrior Invitational. He led his team to the best team time in school history as well. French's time breaks Paul Adams' record time of 24:19 that was set back in 2013 at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational.
 
Women’s Golf – Golfer
Lewis-Clark State College’s Alexandra Schmidt was named the WVT Laboratory Women’s Golfer of the Week.
 
Schmidt, a senior from Regina, Saskatchewan, took first at the Bushnell University Invitational with a two-round score of 147 (71-76). Schmidt's round consisted of five birdies, nine bogeys and four pars on Monday as she battled through some adversity. She ran off four birdies in a row on the front nine, but also had four bogeys, for a 36, and then had four consecutive bogeys on the backside and wound up with a 40.
